Responsibilities

· The College Librarian shall be responsible to the Provost for the administration of the College Library and coordinating the Library services in the teaching units of the College.

Duties

· The candidate for the post of College Librarian is expected mong other responsibilities to perform overall library policy, liase with departments on book requirements, repair library budgets, give professional advice on library matters and perform any other functions which the council or provost may so direct.

Qualifications
Candidate for the post of College Librarian should possess the following qualifications:

· A minimum of Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from a recognized institution of higher learning (Possession of a Doctorate Degree in Library and information Science is an added advantage) with at least 12 years of cognate experience plus full registration with recognized Library Council of Nigeria or its equivalent.

· Evidence of attendance of a continuous mandatory professional development course is required with evidence of registration with professional Library body

· Evidence of sound human relations, professional competence,
industrial integrity and efficient management of human and material resources.

· Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

· Must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals equivalent to that of a Principal Librarian

· Must be a Principal Librarian or its equivalent for a period of not less than two (2) years in a higher institution.

Essential Requirement:

· Candidates must not be more than 50 years as at the time of assumption of duty.

Conditions of Service

· The successful candidates will be entitled to the privileges and benefits specified in the terms and conditions of service for staff of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra State and according to other conditions, which may be approved from time to time by the Governing Council of the College in consultation with the Anambra State Government.

Tenure

· The appointment of the candidate is for a single term of three (3) years only, beginning from the effective date of appointment.
